PRIVATE ACTING
TUITION
One cannot learn the
craft of acting alone. However, there are many situations where actors may
benefit from the dedicated attention of a one-to-one tutorial.
Imagine a three-hour
class with 10 students: assuming there is no homework or notes to be
given, this would equate to around 18 minutes per student. Of course, the
student will spend some of this time actually performing, so the actual
dedicated instruction could be around 10-15 minutes at an absolute maximum. If
the scene involves more than one actor, then you can reduce this time. If the
teacher has any class notes or homework to explain to students, this is reduced
further.
It is easy to see then,
that while the classroom is the most appropriate teaching situation due to the
nature of the craft, it also makes it impossible to devote sufficient individual
attention to the problems of any one actor and forces a general and concise
approach.
In a private session, a
student receives individual and dedicated attention for a predetermined amount
of time. Therefore, each session can be tailored to the individuals’ needs
and covered in far greater detail.
Here are some examples
of the situations where an actor may find the private session
